Depends on her weight and the food you are giving her. That amount sounds very excessive for a miniature schnauzer, though. My Miniature Pinscher (8 months and 8 pounds) gets 1/2 cup of high quality kibble split in two feedings with a couple of tablespoons of canned in to help get him to eat (he’s picky). He is in good weight. Look at the bag your dog food came in, use the amount given, split between the 3 feedings. If she is losing weight, add some, if she’s getting chubby with that amount, feed a little less.

Some people decide to feed their puppies a certain amount of food a day, but I find that with our puppy (9 weeks) letting her eat however much she wants is working well. We plan to continue this until she is around 4 months, where training will start to become a routine also. It’s ok for puppies to eat a lot. They are growing fast and need the nutrition. Just make sure she isn’t eating out of boredom and make sure she gets plenty of exercise.
If you still want to keep her fed three times a day, maybe increase the amount of food to 1.5 in the morning, 2 at noon, and 1 in the evening.

For all of the dogs I have owned (and still own) we feed them kibble. It might be different for the canned wet foods, but we train our dogs to eat as much as they need to: we leave the dry food out and refill the food dish when it gets empty. Unlike wet food, it doesn’t mold or mildew. As long as the dog is somewhat active (you let it out often or take it for walks if you don’t have a backyard), they seem to be a good weight. None of my dogs have been underweight or overweight.

Hi,I have a 5 month old puppy right now but she’s a Rottweiler so much bigger than yours.
I have always fed my dogs the same way.
That is I free feed them.I bought Pedigree puppy dried whole food and filled a small bowl with it and put it down beside its bowl of fresh water. At first your puppy will eat a lot but only for the first few days. After it gets used to it always being there it will only eat what it needs to eat.You will soon know how much that is by how often you re filling the bowl.I also give her canned puppy food at lunch time and in the evening too.Just half a can each time but again your puppy will need much less.I also give her a vitamin tablet twice a day for puppies just to be sure she gets enough vitamins in her diet as puppies need so much more than grown dogs.
I don’t know if any of this helps you or not but whether you free feed her or not your dog will tell you how much she needs to fill her tummy.Just watch her and see if shes still looking for food after her meal or whether she’s happy to curl up and sleep or even play. All puppy’s are different in this so its sort of up to you to figure out what your puppy wants and needs.
Best of luck to you both! Jay. xx

oh dear, u fallen into the” daddy im still hungrey” trap
u will end up with a fat dog. he should not be hungry, your breeder should of informed u how much to feed him and what sort of diet he should be on.
i would of said at his age he should be soon dropping his noon feed not grtting more. if u really worried take him vets, i assuming he all up to date with his worming.

first of all if you havent gotten your dog a checkup at the vet,now is the time to do so ,even if you bought it at a good breeder, petstore,or rescue agency. yes but just because your dog looks at you and wants more doesnt mean that you should give it to her, over feeding can cause more harm then good.i would ask the professional which would be your vet.

If she’s thin, feed more. If she’s heavy set, feed her less. It’s really that simple. No one can intelligently guess how much you should feed your dog. There are too many variables to be accounted for. Also I’d look into feeding a raw diet (as I recommend to anyone who even mentions feeding dogs). If you have any questions on it feel free to e-mail me. Good luck, and I hope I helped.

look at the back or side of the bag, it should give you guidelines on there for the breed or weight of the dog. If it doesn’t, call your vet tomorrow and ask them.

I would say google it and if you don’t find anything to help there then ask your veterinarian.
Hope this helps!! =)
