There is a tremendous amount of information on these subjects available on the internet. Relevant websites are easy to find and so plentiful that it is difficult to recommend just a couple. Best advice is to do your own websearches and explore the results. You will have plenty of information to investigate.
A Yahoo search for “design your own house” (include the quotation marks in the Yahoo search box) yields 28,900 results. A search for “build your own home” will yield 319,000 results. You will quickly find sites that let you use free online home design software as well as sites that walk you through the estimating and building process.

check with places like home depot, check with contractors they should be able to give you an idea.
