It is rat poison and that does cause kidney failure. Thats how they figured out it wasn’t the wheat, because wheat wouldn’t cause kidney failure.
Sorry bout your kitties. ) :

yes it was rat poison and now they are trying to fiqure out how or who put it in the food hope the best of luck with everybody’s animals

Wheat glutin which is used as an ingredient in the gravy.

When I did a web search using many combinations of the words “rat,” “poison,” “cat,” & “food,” I found nothing related to this incident. I saw another person post an article on here that was supposedly from CBS News, but when I went to their sight and searched, the most recent article was from 2003. Sounds like we’re being hoaxed already.

OK, so this morning’s paper ran the story saying it was rat poison. Sorry it didn’t come up when I looked before.

I read an article on the tainted food and it said that there is NO way that glueten wheat could cause failure. NO WAY! it is rat poison.

I’m so sorry to hear your babies were affected by this tainted cat food. My heart almost stopped when I heard about it, thank God, my cat’s food is not on the list. I saw on msn.com they are saying some place in New York “thinks” its rat poison in the food. I thought the food was made in Canada that was affected. Take care of your cats and God Bless

well i am happy to hear that about your cats-but haven’t heard anything about the recall being from cat poison!

where did you heared that from ? if you heard it from somebody else that isnt true about the dogs and cats foods was made ? its wasnt about dry foods or even snacks foods for pets to can have. its was about the brands names cats and dogs foods like those canned cans wet- soilds foods are the problem . its wasnt about rats- poisons products ? i dont think there no such the pets foods companies use rat poisons for mixing with dogs and cats foods. its was about that somebody who accientedly mixed up with the foods by mixing with some thing that was came from the ground out side. so that why all the 51 states all over the worlds shoppers stores like Walmarts, Safeways, Petstores , and the others biger retails stores are taking off the canned cans dogs and cats foods from the shelfts and the veterinarians are testing the foods that had cause the dogs and cats and kitten, puppies killed them . so that why, you should always ask the managers or the store owners what dogs and cats foods you should buy for youre cats . you should always double chekc the adates on the cats foods cause you dont want to get something that is expire adate will also cause the cats sick . if you need more information about recall you can check at the menufoods.com or contact by Gwen Mickelson at gmickelson@santacruzsentinel.com

Yes, it was rat poison, but they don’t know how it got there.

Yes, you might say that. The toxin identified is Aminopterin, a derivative of folic acid and is used as a rat poison in some countries. Aminopterin is not permitted for use as a pesticide in the United States; although the substance is sometimes used to treat certain forms of cancer. Menufoods had a press conference this afternoon and they relased the findings of the lab tests on their contaminated products. They were able to isolate the poison, but can’t figure out yet how it got into the food.

my cat, Maui, just passed away this morning. she’s been ill for a few days and hiding and stuff and she passed at 12:26pm (PST). she will be missed and i am very sad.

It was the top AOL news story today and they said it was rat poison. I hope your kitties get well soon.

Yes! Go to http://www.menufoods.com the brands should be listed there. If you have some of the original food purchased and it is under one of those brands, take it with you to be analyzed. It actually was not “rat poison” per-se but a rodenticide ingredient that isn’t even legal in the U.S. Terrorist testing of their latest way to exterminate us? Time will only tell because this is surely not an accident but a clear-cut case of sabotage to our pets.Best of luck! Pravda.
