The pet food cotains all the vitamins and minerals the animal needs thats prob the main reason!

These days, folks don’t even spend time in the kitchen cooking for their families. They have quick frozen veg and quick frozen, ready to cook meals.
You don’t REALLY expect them to spend time sorting meals out for kitty and spot, do you?

as you rightly say we humans probably dont eat as well as we should so any scraps of our food wouldnt be good for pets. I feed my dog on dog food AND my leftovers when there are any. And only food that is safe for him.

pet food is healthier for animals its been tested and is more nutritionally balanced then scraps.it also has the vitamins and minerals in it that kitchen scraps lack.

These days and lack of family cooking, what kitchen scraps. I remember before the war pet food butchers selling horse meat. . People also used to get bones and scraps from the butchers. I agree we didn’t have all the tinned and packaged stuff.

Animals live longer and have fewer health issues when fed a balanced diet that is tailored to their nutritional needs (whether pet food, or a raw organic diet) Table scraps are poor substitutes for proper nutrition.

But were they healthy? Have you got any statistics on pet lifespan? I bet they live longer on average now.

I feed my animals both table scraps and pet food. I dont think feeding them table scraps is bad its yummy lol besides we’ve had animals live to be 22 and she never went to the vet either and she ate table scraps with pet food.

PEOPLE don’t eat a healthy diet either nowadays, they eat expensive, highly processed, nutritionally deficient, packaged food, the human equivalent of most commercial dog food.

but pet food has been tested and all for pets, its better to give them that cuz its mean for them and its healthier for the pets

I have 6 dogs and don’t leave any scraps of food to waste!
If they relied on the food my wife and I didn’t eat then they’d have starved to death long ago!
My dogs eat Tesco’s Finest brand, quite good value for money in my opinion!

Oh, get a grip. Animals need a balanced diet, and BETTER pet food companies have done thier research and now we have Solid Gold Katzen Flocken, Innova, Evolve, etc.
A healthy diet means a healthy immune system.
I’ve worked at a vet’s, and I’ve seen dogs that’ve gotten
’spoiled’ on people-food. They look more than twice thier age, and of course are overweight.
Feeding your pets kitchen scraps and declaring them healthy leads me to believe you’re one of the less knowledgable and
observant people that frequent this site.
Get over yourself. Before you say that the pet food industry is one big con-job, do a little research, yourself.
I bet ‘before the war’ you didn’t spay or neuter, either.
So- give a little thought to what you’re on about, next time.

I was advised by my Vet never to give my dog kitchen scraps b’coz it was not good for them. They could not get all the vitamins and nutrients they needed from scraps.
Before the war small pure breed dogs were not as popular as they are now. A small pure bred dog’s system is not as hearty as a mutt’s therefor they need foods designed especially for them. Feed pure breed dogs table scraps and you have an over weight dog and that is not good.
But you are correct…..Pets are a booming business now! You also never heard of dog or cat treats and toys either.

Because it’s the easiest way of ensuring that your pet gets a balanced diet.
I wonder how long it will be before they bring out a complete balanced food for children? I bet it would sell like hot cakes.
