I know of Whole Foods, and Olives (in Long Beach) so besides them, where are there more gourmet food shops?

The places you mentioned are good. Here are a few others:
Surfas in Culver City on Washington Blvd near National is great. They used to only sell to restaurants but now they sell to the public.
Sorrentos in Culver City on Sepulveda just south of Sawtelle. Owned by an Italian couple– authentic Italian foods and ingredients.
Bristol Farms also has gourmet foods. There is one in Redondo Beach on PCH and Palos Verdes Blvd.
Also in Long Beach is Naples Gourmet Grocer.
The Cheese Store Beverly Hills, Surfas in Culver City, Artisan Cheese Gallery, Breadbar, Penzey’s Spices, Hows Market, The Cheesestore of Silverlake, Joan’s On Third, Marukai Market, Vicente Foods, Market Gourmet, Owen’s Market by Mindy Weiss, La Brea Bakery, and Larchmont Village Wine Spirits & Cheese.
Bristol Farms, Bay Cities Deli (in Santa Monica) Gelsons, The Wine House (has gourmet sections along with great wine)
Jensens in Palm Springs area

All are good suggestions. Gelson’s is good, too.
