Whenever I wrote out a budget for my husband and I, I figured out how much we made, which you’ve done. And then I made a list of all the necessities like rent, groceries, etc which it seems you’ve sort of done too. Then I allowed a little bit for fun money(eating out, renting movies, etc) and the rest went into our savings account. I found that not using credit cards at all helped. You either have to have cash or a debit card on you, but it’s much better at the end of the day when you look at your account balance and know just how much you have.
I set mine up on excel. You can make each column add up. What I did was made up a list of everything that we spend money on and an extra space for spending and projected how much went to each area. The second part we actually recorded what was really spent in each category. We then programed the budget to calculate the difference so we can see where everything went to… how far off we were and where we can save some. It is really important now for us, since I am not working and am a stay at home mother. There are also software programs out there that will help you. I just took the cheaper rout and used the program already on our computer.

clip coupons, buy when on sale and check out thegrocerygame.com or http://www.frugalcouponliving.com I went from spending 600 a month on groceries to 200 a month.
